Adding Grit Bins to Westgate’s Pathway Connectors

The Westgate Community Association (WCA) has received funding to place grit bins in neighbourhood pathway connectors
Pathway connectors are the walkways that connect our sidewalks throughout the community. To improve neighbourhood walkability, grit bins–with the same sanding mix the city offers– have been placed strategically in these connectors for community use.
What does this mean for Westgate Residents?
- A grit bin with sanding mix and a scoop will be placed in each pathway connector within Westgate
- The mix will be topped up as necessary by WCA members
Do Westgate Residents have to do anything?
- No! Maintenance of the bins will be performed by the WCA
- Anyone is welcome to use the sanding mix in the pathway connector if you so choose
- Bins will be checked periodically, however if you notice any issues with the bins please reach out to the WCA so we can look into it.
Who pays for the bins?
- The bins and sanding mix are provided by the WCA and Navacord Action Grants
Questions, concerns?
- Please reach out to info@westgatecommunity.ca with any questions about the bins
For any issues with the pathway connector itself, please contact 311. This includes any dangerous conditions, trip hazards or damage to pathway itself.
